Annadurai meaning
Annadurai (அண்ணாதுரை) is a Tamil boy's name.
Elder brother and lord: aṇṇā "elder brother" + turai "lord, chief"
Annadurai (அண்ணாதுரை) joins two Tamil words of respect. Turai means a chief, lord or master in the Tamil Lexicon, and aṇṇā is the familiar word for an elder brother. The Lexicon also lists aṇṇā as a name of Tiruvannamalai, so the name can equally be read as "lord of Annamalai"; the dictionaries do not settle which was first meant. It is best known through C. N. Annadurai, founder of the DMK and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, affectionately called Anna, "elder brother", and through the ISRO scientist Mylswamy Annadurai.
