Perumal meaning
Perumal (பெருமாள்) is a Tamil and Hindu boy's name.
A person of eminence; Vishnu; God
Also used to mean: Lord Vishnu
Perumal (பெருமாள்) is the everyday Tamil name for Vishnu. The Tamil Lexicon gives perumāḷ as a person distinguished by greatness, a title of the Chera kings, Vishnu, and God in general; the word is built on peru-, "great". Vishnu temples across Tamil Nadu are commonly called Perumal kovils, and Saturdays in the month of Purattasi are kept for him. As a personal name it is often joined to others, as in Venkatesa Perumal. A well-known bearer is the Tamil novelist Perumal Murugan.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Vishnu.
