Kavita meaning
Kavita (कविता) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Poetry, ornate style in verse or prose; a poem
Kavita (कविता) is the Sanskrit kavitā, "poetry", formed from kavi, a word that meant a seer or wise man as well as a poet. Monier-Williams glosses kavitā as "poetry, ornate style (whether of verse or prose)" and also "a poem", citing the poet Bhartrihari among others. In Hindi and several other Indian languages kavitā is still the ordinary word for a poem. Indian name lists give Kavita as "poem" or "poetry", exactly as the dictionary does. In South India the name is often spelled Kavitha. A well-known bearer is the playback singer Kavita Krishnamurti.
