Bindiya meaning
Bindiya (बिंदिया) is a Hindu girl's name of Hindi origin (from Sanskrit).
A forehead dot or spangle (Hindi bindī, from Sanskrit bindu)
Also used to mean: small dot
Bindiya (बिंदिया) is an affectionate Hindi form of bindī, the dot or spangle worn on the forehead. Platts' Hindi dictionary gives bindī as "dot, point, spot" and "a spangle or ornament for the forehead", and traces it to Sanskrit bindu, a drop or dot. The -iyā ending is the familiar diminutive of folk songs and film lyrics, where the bindiya is a beloved image of adornment. Baby-name lists give the name as "forehead dot" or "small dot", which matches. Bindiya was also the title of a 1960 Hindi film.
