Kirti meaning
Kirti (कीर्ति) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, की, it is a Mithun rashi name (Mrigashira nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Good report, fame, renown, glory
Kirti (कीर्ति) is Sanskrit kīrti. Monier-Williams gives its first sense as mention or report, and its main sense as good report, fame, renown and glory; later lexicons add lustre and expansion. The dictionary also records Kīrti as Fame personified, a daughter of Dakṣa and wife of Dharma, and as one of the Mātṛkās, the divine energies. The same word reaches Sikh scripture as ਕੀਰਤਿ, glory and good name, and it underlies longer names such as Kirtiman and Sukirti. Keerthi and Keerti are the usual South Indian spellings. Kirti is easily confused with Kriti (कृति), 'a work or creation', which is a different name with a different root.
