Pampa meaning
Pampa (पंपा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Name of a sacred lake and river of South India
Pampa (पंपा) is the name of a river and a lake of South India. Monier-Williams records Pampā as a river in the Mahabharata and Ramayana and as a lake. In the Ramayana, the devotee Shabari directs Rama to Lake Pampa, where he goes on to meet Sugriva during the search for Sita. Tradition places the lake, Pampa Sarovar, near Hampi in Karnataka, where it is counted among the sacred lakes of India. Pampa is used as a girl's name in several parts of India, especially in Bengal.
