Sindhu meaning
Sindhu (सिंधु) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A river, especially the Indus; the sea, ocean
Sindhu (సింధు, सिंधु) is one of the oldest names in India. Monier-Williams defines Sanskrit sindhu as a river or stream, especially the Indus, and also as flood waters and the ocean, with uses going back to the Rig Veda. The great river gave its name to the region of Sindh, and through Persian hindu and Greek Indos to the words Hindu and India. As a given name Sindhu is used for girls across South India and beyond. Its best-known bearer today is P. V. Sindhu, the badminton player who has won two Olympic medals.
