Ruchi meaning
Ruchi (रुचि) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Light, lustre, splendour, beauty; liking, taste, pleasure
Also used to mean: interest
Ruchi (रुचि) is the Sanskrit feminine noun ruci. Monier-Williams lists its first senses as light, lustre, splendour and beauty, then colour, and then liking, taste, relish and zest, the sense that survives in everyday Hindi, where ruchi means interest or taste. The dictionary also records Ruci as the name of an Apsaras, a celestial dancer, in the Mahabharata. Name lists give both strands, "light" and "interest", so the popular meaning matches the old word closely. The name is used across North and West India.
