Sukanya meaning
Sukanya (सुकन्या) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A beautiful girl; daughter of Śaryāti and wife of Cyavana
Sukanya (सुकन्या) joins su-, "good, fair", and kanyā, "girl, maiden", so it means a beautiful or good girl, and Monier-Williams records exactly that sense. The name also has a famous bearer in the sacred texts. Sukanyā, daughter of King Śaryāti, was married to the aged sage Cyavana after she injured him while he sat motionless in meditation. When the twin Aśvins, physicians of the gods, later tried to win her, she stayed loyal, and at her request they restored Cyavana's youth. The story is told in the Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa and the Mahābhārata. Name lists give "beautiful girl", matching the dictionary.
