Kamini (कामिनी) is the feminine of Sanskrit kāmin, "loving, in love", from kāma, "desire, love". Monier-Williams defines kāminī as a loving or affectionate woman, a woman in general, and a form of Devī, the Goddess; it is also the name of a fragrant orchid. Name lists usually give "beautiful" or "desirable". In classical poetry kāminī is a common word for a lovely woman, but strictly it describes the one who loves rather than the one desired.
