Kamya meaning
Kamya (काम्या) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, का, it is a Mithun rashi name (Mrigashira nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Desirable, beautiful, lovely, agreeable
Kamya (काम्या) comes from Sanskrit kāmya, an adjective formed from kāma, desire. Monier-Williams gives desirable, beautiful, amiable, lovely and agreeable, and 'to one's liking'. In ritual language the word has a further, technical sense: a kāmya rite is an optional one, performed for some desired object, as opposed to a nitya or obligatory observance. The feminine kāmyā is also recorded as the name of an Apsaras and of several women. Name lists render Kamya as 'desired', 'beloved' or 'beautiful', all close to the dictionary meaning. The name is short and soft, and some families spell it Kaamya to show the long first vowel.
