Mahnoor meaning
Mahnoor (ماہ نور) is a Muslim girl's name of Persian and Arabic origin.
Moonlight; light of the moon
Mahnoor (ماہ نور) joins Persian māh, "moon", with nūr, "light", an Arabic word long at home in Persian and Urdu; Steingass lists both. The compound itself is not a dictionary headword, so its meaning is read from the parts: "moonlight" or "light of the moon", which is also how name lists give it. Nūr is a Quranic word, best known from the Verse of Light (24:35), and it appears in other names such as Noor and Noorjahan. Māh, the moon, also lies behind Mehwish, "moon-like". The name is used by Muslim families in Pakistan and India and is also spelled Mahenoor or Mahinoor.
