Hala (ہالہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin (via Persian).
A halo around the moon
Also used to mean: radiance
Hala (ہالہ) is the Arabic and Persian word hāla, the ring of light that sometimes circles the moon. Steingass' Persian dictionary defines it as a halo round the moon, gives phrases such as hāla bastan, "to form a halo", and compares the Greek halōs, from which English "halo" comes. Name lists give Hala as "halo around the moon" or "radiance". It is used in the Levant and Egypt and by Muslim families in India. The greeting halā, "welcome", is a different word.
