Bahira meaning
Bahira (باہرہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
Overcoming in light, outshining; brilliant
Also used to mean: dazzling, radiant
Bahira (باہرہ) is the feminine of Arabic bāhir, from the root b-h-r, "to overcome, to surpass". Lane's lexicon gives bāhir as "overcoming in light", with the example of qamar bāhir, a moon so bright that it outshines the stars. From this comes the everyday Arabic sense of something dazzling or brilliant. Name lists give Bahira as "dazzling" or "brilliant", in line with the dictionary. It is a different name from Baḥīrā, the Christian monk of early Islamic tradition, which is spelled with a different h.
