Ayat meaning
Ayat (آیت) is a Muslim and international girl's name of Arabic origin.
A sign, token or miracle; a verse of the Quran
Ayat (آیت) is the Urdu form of the Arabic āya, a word with a wide range. Lane defines it as a sign or token, an evidence or proof, a miracle, and the wonders of God; it can also mean an example or warning, as in the Quranic story of Joseph and his brothers. Most familiarly, an āya is a connected group of words of the Book of God: a verse of the Quran. The Quran often speaks of āyāt, "signs", in creation, such as the alternation of night and day, which it calls signs for people of understanding (3:190). Name lists give Ayat as "sign", "miracle" or "verse", matching the dictionary. In India it is given to girls.
