Marwa meaning
Marwa (مروہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
A flint stone; al-Marwa, the hill at Mecca named for its flints
Also used to mean: white stone, hill near the Kaaba
Marwa (مروہ) is the Arabic marwa, a flint stone. Steingass's dictionary gives it as a flint-stone and as the name of the hill at Mecca, which is said to take its name from its flints. Al-Safa and al-Marwa are the two low hills between which pilgrims walk seven times during Hajj and Umrah, recalling Hagar's search for water for her son Ishmael, and the Quran names them among the signs of God (2:158). Name lists give Marwa as "flint" or "white stone" and connect it with the hill. It is used in India and across the Muslim world.
