Lane's lexicon defines ab as a father or ancestor and quotes ʿĀʾisha's saying hiya bintu abīhā, "she is truly her father's daughter". The name is taken from Umm Abīhā, "mother of her father", a title the Prophet is reported to have given his daughter Fatima. Name lists give Abiha as "her father" or "father's beloved".
