Umaima meaning

Umaima (امیمہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.

Little mother: diminutive of umm, 'mother'

Umaima is the Arabic diminutive of umm, 'mother', and so means 'little mother'. Lane's lexicon lists it simply as the diminutive form under umm, the root that also gives umma, 'a people or community', and imām, 'one who leads'. Arabic diminutives are often affectionate, and the name has been used since early times: Umayma bint ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib was a paternal aunt of the Prophet Muhammad and the mother of Zaynab bint Jaḥsh, who later became one of his wives. Baby-name lists give 'little mother' or 'mother', the dictionary sense. The name is used for girls by Muslim families in India and Pakistan, often spelt Umaima or Umaimah.
