Nausheen meaning
Nausheen (نوشین) is a Muslim girl's name of Persian origin.
Sweet, pleasant
Nausheen is the Persian adjective noshīn, 'sweet', built on nosh, a sweet drink or honey, with the ending -īn. Steingass defines noshīn as sweet, pleasant and easy to digest, and lists phrases that show its warmth: noshīn-bāda, wine that flows pleasantly down the throat, and noshīn-rawān, 'sweet life', a name of the Persian king Nūshīrwān. Baby-name lists give 'sweet' or 'pleasant', which is the dictionary sense; a few split the name into nau, 'new', and shīn, but that does not match the Persian word. The name is used for girls in India and Pakistan, often spelt Nosheen as well.
