Steingass's Persian dictionary gives it as beautiful or elegant, adorned or well arranged, and notes that it is used as a woman's name; related words include zībāʾī, beauty or gracefulness, and compounds such as zībā-rū, "handsome-faced", and zībā-khū, "of good disposition". The same root gives zīb or zeb, "ornament", as in the Mughal names Zebunnisa and Aurangzeb. Name lists give Zeba as "beautiful", the dictionary sense.
