Tarannum meaning
Tarannum (ترنم) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
Singing with a trilling, modulated voice; melody, warbling
Also used to mean: song
Tarannum (ترنم) is the Arabic tarannum, from tarannama, "to sing with a trilling voice". Lane's lexicon explains the verb as quavering or modulating the voice in chanting or singing, said of a singer, of a dove cooing and even of a bow when it is twanged; the noun means prolonging the voice and modulating it sweetly, warbling. In Urdu, reciting poetry ba-tarannum means singing it to a tune at a mushaira. Name lists give Tarannum as "melody" or "song", which matches. It is used by Indian Muslim families.
