Tarini meaning
Tarini (तारिणी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, ता, it is a Tula rashi name (Swati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
She who carries across; a form of Durga
Tarini (तारिणी) is the feminine of Sanskrit tārin, "enabling to cross over, saving", from the root tṝ, "to cross". Monier-Williams quotes tārin as a description of Durgā from the Mahābhārata, and records Tāriṇī itself as a form of Durgā in the Tantras and, as an equivalent of Tārā, as a Buddhist goddess. The picture behind the word is of someone who carries others safely to the far shore, the same idea of crossing that gives Sanskrit tīrtha, a ford. Indian name lists give Tarini as "saviour", in line with the dictionary, and often link it with Durgā. It is a girl's name used across India.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Durga.
