Ghazal meaning
Ghazal (غزل) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin (via Persian and Urdu).
Love talk; in Persian and Urdu, a lyric poem of love
Also used to mean: love poem, poetry
Ghazal (غزل) is the Arabic word ghazal, from the root gh-z-l. Lane's lexicon explains it as the talk and dealings between a lover and the one he loves, as distinct from simply praising the beloved's beauty. In Persian it became the name of a short lyric poem, and Steingass gives it as an ode or sonnet. In India the ghazal is best known as the Urdu love lyric of poets such as Mir, Ghalib and Faiz. As a girl's name it is used by Muslim families and by others who love the poetry.
