Mehrunnisa meaning
Mehrunnisa (مہرالنساء) is a Muslim girl's name of Persian and Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
Sun among women; love among women (mihr + al-nisāʾ)
Mehrunnisa (مہرالنساء) is made of the Persian mihr and the Arabic al-nisāʾ, "women". Platts's Urdu dictionary gives mihr both as the sun and as love, affection and kindness, so the name can be read as "sun among women" or "love among women". It is famous as the birth name of Nur Jahan, the Mughal empress who was born Mehr-un-Nissa in 1577 and married the emperor Jahangir in 1611, becoming one of the most powerful women of her age. Name lists give the meaning as "sun among women".
