Mahira meaning
Mahira (ماہرہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
Skilled, expert in her art or in any work
Also used to mean: talented
Mahira is the feminine of Arabic māhir, from the verb mahara, 'to become skilled'. Lane's lexicon defines māhir as skilled or skilful in one's art, in any kind of work, or in a branch of learning: someone who knows its subtleties and difficult points, or has mastered the whole of it. Lane adds that, used on its own, māhir could mean a good swimmer. The same root also gives mahr, the bridal gift in a Muslim marriage, a separate sense that Lane lists alongside. In Urdu and Hindi māhir is the everyday word for an expert, so the name's meaning is easy to recognise. The Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, who starred in the Hindi film Raees, is a well-known bearer.
