Zakia meaning
Zakia (زکیہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
Pure, free from sin; growing, thriving in goodness
Also used to mean: intelligent
Zakia comes from two Arabic words that sound alike. Zakiyya (زکیہ) is the feminine of zakiyy, from the root of zakāt, "to grow, to be pure"; Lane's lexicon gives it as thriving, and explains the Quran's "a pure boy", ghulāman zakiyyā (19:19), as one pure from sins or growing in goodness. Dhakiyya (ذکیہ), which Urdu speakers also say as Zakia, is from dhakāʾ, sharpness of mind, and Lane gives dhakiyy as quick-witted. That is why name lists offer both "pure" and "intelligent".
