Basira meaning
Basira (بصیرہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
Insight, mental perception; understanding
Also used to mean: perceptive, wise
Basira (بصیرہ) is the Arabic word baṣīra, from the root b-ṣ-r, "to see". Lane's lexicon defines it as mental perception: the mind's power of seeing, knowledge and understanding, in contrast to baṣar, the sight of the eyes. The Quran uses it when the Prophet says he calls to God "upon clear insight" (12:108). The related baṣīr, "all-seeing", is one of the names of God. Name lists give Basira as "insight" or "perceptive", which matches the dictionary closely. Baseera is another spelling used in India.
