Roshanara meaning
Roshanara (روشن آرا) is a Muslim girl's name of Persian origin (Urdu usage).
Adorning with light; from roshan, 'bright, luminous', and ārā, 'adorning'
Also used to mean: bright light, adorned with light, radiant
Roshanara (روشن آرا) joins two Persian words: roshan, which Steingass's dictionary gives as luminous, bright and clear, and ārā, "adorning, embellishing", the ending also found in names like Jahanara, "adorning the world". Together they mean light that adorns, or adorned with light. Name lists give Roshanara as "bright light" or "radiant". The name belongs to Roshanara Begum (1617–1671), the Mughal princess, daughter of Shah Jahan and sister of Aurangzeb, whose garden survives as Roshanara Bagh in north Delhi.
