Noori meaning
Noori (نوری) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
Of light; made of light; bright, luminous, splendid; clear, serene
Also used to mean: radiant
Noori (نوری) is the adjective formed from nūr, "light", the source of the name Noor. Platts's Urdu dictionary defines nūrī as of light or made of light, and bright, luminous, splendid or serene. Lane's lexicon explains nūr itself as light of every kind, from the light of the moon to the light of reason and of revelation, and the Quran calls God "the Light of the heavens and the earth" (24:35). Name lists give Noori as "light" or "luminous", matching the dictionary. Noor, Noori and Nooriya are all used by Indian Muslim families.
