Jaai meaning
Jaai (जाई) is a Hindu girl's name of Marathi origin (from Sanskrit jāti). By its first sound, जा, it is a Makar rashi name (Uttara Ashadha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A jasmine, the plant or its flower
Jaai (जाई) is the Marathi word for a large white jasmine, used as a girls' name. Molesworth's Marathi dictionary gives jāī as a jasmine, the plant or its flower, and Date's dictionary describes it as a climber also called mālatī. It descends from Sanskrit jāti, which Monier-Williams identifies as the Spanish jasmine, Jasminum grandiflorum. In Marathi poetry and song jaai and jui are often named together, and both have become girls' names. It should not be confused with the boys' name Jai, "victory", which is a different word.
