Kalindi meaning
Kalindi (कालिंदी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, का, it is a Mithun rashi name (Mrigashira nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
The river Yamunā; also a wife of Kṛṣṇa
Kalindi (कालिंदी) is Sanskrit kālindī, which Monier-Williams gives as a patronymic of the river Yamunā, used in the Mahābhārata and the Harivaṃśa. Puranic tradition explains it from Kalinda, the mountain where the river rises. Kālindī is also the name of one of Kṛṣṇa's wives, called a daughter of Sūrya, the sun, in the Bhāgavata Purāṇa, and in the Rāmāyaṇa of the wife of Asita and mother of King Sagara. Because the Yamunā flows past Mathurā and Vṛndāvana, the name is closely tied to the stories of Kṛṣṇa's childhood. Some name lists gloss it as 'sun'; that is not a dictionary sense of the word, though Kālindī is called a daughter of Sūrya.
