Nupur meaning
Nupur (नूपुर) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, नू, it is a Vrishchik rashi name (Anuradha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
An anklet, an ornament for the feet
Nupur (नूपुर) is Sanskrit nūpura, an anklet or ornament for the feet, a word Monier-Williams cites from the Mahābhārata onwards; it also lists Nūpura as the name of a descendant of Ikṣvāku. In Hindi and Urdu the word lives on for the anklet, and the Rekhta dictionary sets it beside the everyday pāzeb and ghuṅgrū, the belled anklet worn by dancers. Name lists give Nupur as "anklet" or "anklet bells", in line with the dictionary. The name is often spelt Noopur or Nupoor in English, and it is used across India by families of many languages.
