Debarati meaning
Debarati (देबारति) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage). By its first sound, दे, it is a Meen rashi name (Revati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
'gods' delight', the name of an Apsaras
Also used to mean: delight of the gods, worship of god
Debarati (দেবারতি) is the Bengali form of Sanskrit devarati, made from deva, "god", and rati, "pleasure, delight". Monier-Williams gives devarati as "gods' delight" and records it as the name of an Apsaras, a celestial dancer, in the Kathāsaritsāgara. Bengali turns the Sanskrit v into b, so Devarati becomes Debarati. The usual Bengali spelling has a long ā, and some name lists read it as deb + ārati, the evening worship with lamps, giving "worship of the gods". The dictionary supports "delight of the gods". It is a Bengali girls' name.
