Debasmita meaning
Debasmita (देबस्मिता) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage). By its first sound, दे, it is a Meen rashi name (Revati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
'having a divine smile'; the name of a merchant's daughter
Also used to mean: smile of God
Debasmita (দেবস্মিতা) is the Bengali form of Sanskrit devasmitā, made from deva, "god", and smita, "a smile". Monier-Williams gives it as "having a divine smile" and records it as the name of a merchant's daughter in the Kathāsaritsāgara, the great medieval collection of stories, where Devasmitā is a faithful wife who outwits the men who try to tempt her while her husband is away. Bengali turns the Sanskrit v into b, so Devasmita becomes Debasmita, also spelled Debosmita. Name lists give "divine smile", the same as the dictionary.
