Sandra meaning
Sandra is a Christian girl's name of Greek origin (via Italian).
Man-defender (from Greek Alexandros)
Also used to mean: defender of mankind, helper of mankind
Sandra began as a short form of Alessandra or Alexandra, feminine forms of Alexander. Strong's Concordance explains Greek Alexandros as made from a word for warding off and aner, 'man', and renders it 'man-defender'; name lists give Sandra as 'defender of mankind'. Alexander the Great made the root name famous, and the New Testament mentions several men called Alexander. In India Sandra is used in Christian families.
