Tulika meaning
Tulika (तूलिका) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, तू, it is a Tula rashi name (Vishakha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A painter's brush; a cotton wick
Tulika (तूलिका) is Sanskrit tūlikā, related to tūla, "cotton". Apte's dictionary gives its first sense as a painter's brush or pencil, quoting Kālidāsa's Kumārasambhava (1.32), where the young Pārvatī's beauty unfolds "like a picture opened out by the brush". Apte and Monier-Williams also list more practical senses: a cotton wick for a lamp, a cotton mattress, a probing rod and a mould for ingots. Indian name lists give Tulika as "paintbrush", following that classical sense, which gives the name an artistic, creative feel. It is a girl's name used across India.
