Riti meaning
Riti (रीति) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, री, it is a Tula rashi name (Chitra nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Course, way; custom, practice; style of writing
Riti (रीति) is the Sanskrit rīti. In the Rig Veda it means motion, a course or a stream, and later a way, method, custom or practice, which is why name lists often render it as "tradition" or "way of life". In Sanskrit literary theory rīti is also the technical word for poetic style, and the classical critics described three styles, the Vaidarbhī, Gauḍī and Pāñcālī, named after regions of ancient India. Monier-Williams adds brass or bell-metal among its senses. The name is short and gentle and is used mainly for girls in Hindu families. It should not be confused with Ritu, which comes from ṛtu, "season".
