Ritu meaning
Ritu (ऋतु) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A fixed or right time; a season, a period of the year
Ritu (ऋतु) is the Sanskrit ṛtu, "a fixed or appointed time". In the Vedas it meant the right moment for a sacrifice or rite, and from there "an epoch, a period", above all a division of the year, a "season". Monier-Williams notes that early texts divide the year into anything from three to twenty-four such periods, while later ones settle on six seasons, so that the word could also stand for the number six. In the Rigveda it can mean "fixed order, rule" as well. Indian name lists give Ritu as "season", matching the dictionary, and the name is also spelled Rithu and Rutu.
