Sakhi meaning
Sakhi (सखी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A female friend or companion, a woman's confidante
Sakhi (सखी) is the Sanskrit word sakhī, the feminine of sakhi, "friend, companion", a word old enough to appear in the Rigveda and related to Latin socius. Monier-Williams gives sakhī as a female friend or companion and a woman's confidante, the friend who carries messages and keeps secrets in classical poetry. In the devotional poetry of Braj, the sakhīs are Radha's companions in the stories of Krishna. Name lists give Sakhi as "friend" or "companion", which is the dictionary meaning. The Hindi word saheli comes from the same root.
