Kinnari meaning
Kinnari (किन्नरी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A female Kinnara, a celestial musician; a kind of lute
Also used to mean: a stringed instrument
Kinnari (किन्नरी) is the feminine of Sanskrit kiṃnara, a mythical being half human and half horse in early texts, later counted among the Gandharvas, the singers and musicians of heaven who serve Kubera. Monier-Williams cites the female kiṃnarī from the Ramayana and Kalidasa's Meghadūta, and also gives it as the name of a lute. Name lists give "celestial musician" or "a stringed instrument", both in the dictionary. The kinnari also appears as a graceful bird-woman in Thai and Southeast Asian art, carried there with Indian stories.
