Trishna meaning
Trishna (तृष्णा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Thirst; desire, longing
Trishna (तृष्णा) is Sanskrit tṛṣṇā, "thirst", from the root tṛṣ, "to be thirsty". Monier-Williams gives thirst in the literal sense, from the Vedas on, and then desire, longing or avidity, usually for something named. Avidity is personified as a daughter of Death, and in Buddhist teaching tṛṣṇā, Pali taṇhā, is the craving that arises from feeling and leads to grasping. Name lists give "thirst" or "desire", matching the dictionary. As a name it is usually meant in the gentler sense of longing or aspiration, though in religious writing the word most often names a craving to be overcome.
