Trishala meaning
Trishala (त्रिशला) is a Jain girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Jain usage).
The mother of Mahavira, in Jain tradition
Trishala (त्रिशला) is the name of the mother of Mahāvīra, the twenty-fourth Jain Tirthankara, and Monier-Williams records it only in that sense. Jain texts describe her as a Kshatriya queen, wife of King Siddhārtha, who saw fourteen auspicious dreams, among them an elephant, a bull, a lion and the goddess Lakshmi, foretelling the birth of a great soul; these dreams are a favourite subject of Jain painting. Britannica notes that one Jain tradition names a Brahman woman, Devanandā, as his mother instead. The name is chosen by Jain families in honour of this revered mother.
