Ekta meaning
Ekta (एकता) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, ए, it is a Vrishabh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Oneness, unity, union, identity
Ekta (एकता) is Sanskrit ekatā, formed from eka, "one", with the suffix -tā, which turns a word into an abstract noun, much like English "-ness". Monier-Williams glosses it as "oneness, unity, union, coincidence, identity" and finds it as early as the Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa and the Chāndogya Upaniṣad, as well as in the Mahābhārata; the phrase ekatām api yā, "to become one with", appears in the Viṣṇu Purāṇa. In modern Hindi ekatā is also the everyday word for unity, so the name is immediately understood. Baby-name lists agree on "unity" or "oneness", matching the dictionary. The name is mostly given to girls and is usually spelt Ekta, sometimes Ekata.
