Bhanvi (भान्वी) is a modern girls' name built on Sanskrit bhānu, "light, the sun". Monier-Williams lists the adjective bhānava, "peculiar to the sun", and a feminine bhānavī, which it gives only as a kind of pace in music. Baby-name lists give Bhanvi as "sun rays" or "radiant". That fits the bhānu root, but it is a meaning families attach to the name rather than the dictionary sense of bhānavī. Bhanavi, closer to the Sanskrit form, is a spelling used in South India.
