Ushma meaning
Ushma (ऊष्मा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Heat, glow, warmth, ardour; steam
Ushma (ऊष्मा) comes from Sanskrit ūṣman, whose nominative form is ūṣmā. Monier-Williams gives "heat, glow, ardour, hot vapour, steam", a word found from the Atharvaveda on, and also "the hot season"; it was used figuratively for warmth of feeling. Sanskrit grammarians use the same word for the "warm" breathy sounds ś, ṣ, s and h. In modern Hindi ūṣmā is the word for heat in physics. Name lists give Ushma as "warmth" or "heat", which matches the dictionary.
