Atharvi meaning
Atharvi (अथर्वी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A female priest (Vedic)
Atharvi (अथर्वी) is used today as the feminine of Atharva, a boys' name. Both go back to Atharvan, the legendary fire-priest who, Monier-Williams says, first instituted fire worship and gave his name to the Atharvaveda, the fourth Veda. The dictionary also records atharvī as a Vedic word, glossed "female priest", though the single Ṛgveda passage it comes from is read in more than one way. For most families the name simply means a girl named for the tradition of Atharva and the Atharvaveda.
