Samidha meaning
Samidha (समिधा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Firewood, fuel, a log for the sacred fire; kindling
Also used to mean: offering to the sacred fire, sacrificial wood
Samidha (समिधा) comes from Sanskrit samidh, built from sam- and the verb idh, "to kindle, to blaze". Monier-Williams gives samidh as firewood, fuel or a log fed to the fire, and as an adjective "igniting, flaming". In Vedic and later Hindu ritual the samidh is the small stick offered into the sacred fire during a havan or homa, so the word carries a sense of offering and devotion. Name lists give Samidha as "offering to the sacred fire", which matches this ritual sense. The name is used mainly in Maharashtra and Gujarat.
