Daughter of Kushadhvaja and wife of Bharata in the Ramayana
Mandavi (मांडवी) is a name from the Ramayana. Monier-Williams records Māṇḍavī as the daughter of King Kuśadhvaja and the wife of Bharata, Rama's younger brother; she was married on the same day that her cousin Sita married Rama. He also gives the name for the goddess Dākṣāyaṇī as worshipped at Māṇḍavya. Name lists describe it simply as the wife of Bharata; some add "fit and competent", which we could not find in the dictionaries. The name carries a Ramayana link, and it is used mainly in Gujarat, Maharashtra and North India.
