The flame of a lamp
Deepshikha (दीपशिखा) is the Sanskrit dīpa-śikhā, made from dīpa, "lamp", and śikhā, a crest, a tuft or a flame. Monier-Williams gives it as the flame of a lamp, citing the Kathāsaritsāgara, and also as the bright point of any shining body. The flame of a lamp is an old image in Indian poetry: the poet Kālidāsa was nicknamed Dīpaśikhā-Kālidāsa for a famous verse comparing a princess to a moving lamp-flame. Name lists give "flame of a lamp", the same as the dictionary. It is used across North and East India.
