Ahana meaning
Ahana (अहना) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Vedic). By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Dawn, morning
Also used to mean: first rays of the sun
Ahana (अहना) is an old Vedic word for the dawn. Apte's Sanskrit dictionary gives ahanā as "dawn, morning", equating it with uṣā, the dawn, on the authority of the medieval Vedic commentator Sayana. The word is related to ahan, "day". Monier-Williams notes that the form ahanā occurs in Rigveda 1.123, a hymn addressed to the dawn goddess Ushas, although he reads it there as a grammatical form of "day", so scholars differ on the exact sense. Indian name lists give Ahana as "dawn" or "first rays of the sun", close to Apte's gloss. The name is also spelled Aahana and Ahaana.
